The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

This SK book is "different", that's all I can say until I read more of it. Koontz has some good ones out, but I still prefer SK.

No, get back here lady! You work too much, miss seeing you around DMC.
Thanks Debby:hugsnot sure why I thought working 5 days a week was a good thing.:thIt was the last day cleaning at my friends house today. I felt terrible telling her. I’ve been cleaning there 7 years. She bought me some pretty flowers.

salems lot takes first in my opinion, clowns don't scare me, hate spiders with a passion, but then i've been bitten three or four times, twice while spleeping, nope, don't like spiders

sorry, had to go to the store and get my metformins and while out, went to lowes and bought a lemon tree
That movie scared the crap out of me. I watched it when I was in my teens. 5 of us sisters slept in the same bed that night. Still gives me the heebie jeebies when I think of it.
:lau Yeah they are.

And since real life IS more scary, I too have given up on watching the news. I used to tune into the local and national news religiously every evening, I was wondering why I was getting so depressed all the time. I stopped watching the news and all of a sudden I felt SO much better!!
I quit watching the news also. Depressing stuff!

Bruce, be careful with the ice!
My boots are sporting their Yaktrax, no problem getting down to the barn and back. Of course they pick up all the shavings and stuff the chickens leave in them in the indoor run so I have a different pair of "off the 'farm'" boots.

It??? Yikes!!! You guys are hardcore. You’ve both just earned a new level of respect. :bow
And now you know why they show up here in the wee hours of the morning, they can't sleep! :D

It's scary to think about who and what's out there for sure. At least with a book, all I have to do is put it down.
Last one I read of Stephen Kings was The Mist..... I read the stand and all I got was exhaustion..... :gig but The Mist was excellent

I loved the Shining... The book was more intense than the movie. though the movie was pretty good at showing the gist... The book had an internal dialogue that was pretty Dang intense....

Oh and Firestarter... Drew Barrymore did a kick ars Job of it. Again the book was more intense...

And Dead Zone.... prefer the book again but the movie was great.

Hes written a bunch of short stories and the only one I have read was Wolf. They made that into a movie and both were awesome.

I didn't read IT or Pet Cemetery... don't care to.

He published an excellent book on writing and my son has it... Just what Hes read to me I found most helpful.

My house is two miles from the Mexican border, and one and a half miles from paved highway. When I go out at night to check on something I carry a flashlight but dont turn it on. I turn the lights out in the room I am going to exit from.

Dont carry a gun I would rather melt into the darkness if I need to. And the light would make me too visible. But for the most part I go and check on what ever and come back in. If you let your eyes adjust there is a whole lot more that you can see in the dark.

When I used to ride my horse at night I let him be my eyes... I watch those ears too. They have awesome with night vision and excellent hearing.

Living alone in reasonable isolation necessitates some "skills". Knowing which neighbor you can wake up in the middle of the night without getting a gun shoved in your face is a good skill too. :gig

hi deb :frow
how you feeling?
was good today. Walked from the bedroom all the way into the kitchen to turn the stove on, grabbed a Drinking glass and filled it from the Berkey and came to the computer to sit down. All without needing to touch something for balance. Yep Very good.

Then I went and did a little too much... Dang it.

Oh well Like I said one step forward one back.... its a dance.
