The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Aaaaand, in our “Who’s Surprised?” department, I-80 is closed in both directions from Rock Springs to Rawlins after a multi-vehicle accident under hazardous driving conditions. Estimates are that up to 50 vehicles could be involved, mostly 18 wheelers and other heavy trucks.

For crying out loud.....

I just saw an update on the I-80 closures...it now stretches from Laramie to Rock Springs for the next 19-21 hours. That's almost the whole southern part of the state going east to west. I saw a photo of all the semi's piled up, it's surprising there weren't more than the 2 fatalities that happened.

From what I saw of yesterday's weather, I don't know why the highway wasn't closed before that happened.

Good morning, everyone! :frow Could I ask for a quick prayer? My beloved brother-in-law Steve (Lori’s husband) is having a third surgery on his shoulder this morning. They aren’t sure what’s going on with the darned thing....why the other two surgeries were not only unsuccessful but actually made things worse. So this time they’re going to undo as much of what was done before, and they're going to replace the entire thing. He’s going to be a hurting unit for a long time. Thanks! I love that guy so much!

Debby, thanks for the update. I hadn’t heard that they’d closed most of Southern Wyoming - last I heard it was Rock Springs to Rawlins, practically right next door to you. All I can say, selfishly I admit, is that I’m so glad we’re done with the brutal travel schedule we had during Ken’s time in the Grand Line - especially that last year. The new Grand Master lives in Cheyenne, so I don’t imagine he’s been able to get out enough to do much. At least living up here we could rearrange our schedule if we had to, and focus on the northern quadrants until things opened up down south. Tom is more or less trapped! You be careful if you need to go somewhere!!!

Quiet day here. I’ve got the girls for a couple of hours later today so Jenny can get her eyes checked. Breaking her eye socket last month meant she had to cancel her previous appointment until it healed.

Friday we leave for Sheridan and will be gone for the weekend. I’m going to pick up one of those little insulated lunch totes and put stuff in it that I can eat. Usually when we go to this particular event, all of us ladies go shopping in downtown Sheridan on Saturday morning, then we all go to Cheri’s house where she puts on a fabulous - and fancy - luncheon. She called last night to ask what I can eat that I like, but it’s just easier on everybody if she just does what she usually does and I’ll have my lunch, and maybe take a bit of what she serves that’s on my “okay” list. I’m probably being way too paranoid and rigid about the diet right now, but I have a GFR test coming up and I want that 27 to have gone up to at least 30, or even higher. So I find myself being militant most of the time.

hope to finish the office today. We’ll see.

Stay warm, stay safe!

Sorry to hear about your brother-in-law Blooie! I'll keep him in my thoughts...I think you're right about him hurting for a while.

Enjoy your trip to Sheridan! Good idea to pack a tote of stuff just for you. We can't have you starving on the road.

And selfish or not...I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere today and got my running around done yesterday morning before all heck broke loose with the weather.
