The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Nope, no snake cooking here although I've tasted it in the past.

One year when my boys were young, we went to an annual rattlesnake hunt in Oklahoma. All the rattlers that don't make the grade for various categories were skinned and fried and sold for lunch. The actual taste wasn't bad, but the reek of all that frying hung a heavy stench over everything that about made me sick.

We only went that one time. Peta got wind of the event and pretty much shut it down. Plus my oldest son felt horrible for the snakes (he's a herpetologist now).
I prefer mine grilled with a little spice... Reminds me of a funny story. We were stationed in Louisiana and would routinely have a cookout every Friday for lunch. I had a great boss, but he was the nosy type when it came to lunch and always had to peek into the coolers. I guess he was deciding whether to eat lunch with us or the club. In any case, one he shows up in my office just terrified... He says to me, do you know there are rattle snakes in the coolers outside? I answered, of course that's what we're having for lunch. and added, I hope you didn't wake them... He never looked in a cooler again :gig Come to think of it, I don't think he ever ate lunch with us again.

Too funny, I guess that cured his nosing around :gig

Great teachers make such an impact on kids. Their lessons can carry way beyond the school years.
This is so true! I wish all teachers were great teachers! I've seen/had my share of good and bad, for myself, my brothers and my children! :)

The day isn't going to get any cooler, guess I'll get some cookies baked. Peanut butter with mini chocolate chips, DH's favorite to eat and my favorite to bake (because they are sooo easy to make).

🍪
I should bake some cookies...but I'm saving my efforts to can tomatoes! My husband is out playing golf, so I am waiting for him to get home...he doesn't get to be completely retired... :gig

Same here, my oldest son in particular was fortunate with his. Youngest son didn't have the same luck of the draw and it was easy to see in how they both felt about school.
