The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

As newlyweds in our first apartment I came home to find a filthy black and white cat on our doormat. When I opened the door he walked in like it was home. Thus Mike the Cat joined our family. One Christmas evening we're sitting in the living room, and Mike the Cat is in the middle of the floor staring at the tree. As we watched he leaped at the tree landing in the middle and dragging it to the floor. All of our other cats have been good around our trees.

The next spring I had a beagle with a back problem so I brought her into the house. Mike tolerated her presence for 3 or 4 days and then walked out the door and never returned.
A vagabond Cat!

We had a female cat adopt us. She stayed though

I brought home a few happy little trees this weekend  We used to sit and watch Bob Ross every Saturday morning with the kids, loved to watch that guy! He just seemed so nice and down to earth.

Bob Ross was wonderful! I loved how he could start off with a blank canvas and with just a few brush strokes he would have a beautiful painting.

That will be a fun calendar to have for the new year!

Yup, plus I have my BYC calendar too :love I need more than one for tracking purposes.

A long time ago I had the wrong sort of guy. He was so sure of himself he thought he could give away my dog. My son called to ask me why give this dog up that was me from day one, I was like  but tried to control my reaction too him. I asked him how come you think I want my dog to leave, then he gave me his big ultimatum, saying, it's up you, it's me or this dog. I just said, please don't slam the door when you leave. Goodbye

Get rid of him, no chance

Hello everybody! I'm sorry I disappeared. DH managed to bring home a bug and shared it with me. It's mostly just an awful nose that runs back, not out, and I still can't shake the cough but at least I'm feeling better as it laid us flat. Thankfully the kids avoided it.

My babies are ok, but not quite as grown up/big as they should be. I'd left them in the incubator thinking that was the best place for them (and being sick I hadn't felt like finding the bits necessary to put together a brooder), but turns out it wasn't. It was just a bit too warm and apparently being too hot is as bad as being too cold. Now that they are set up in their own brooder they are putting on weight and starting to grow feathers. With one I have been agonizing over it because its crop never empties completely (and everywhere on the internet I've read that's a death sentence as it leads to sour crop). But I've now stopped worrying about it and so far he's been absolutely fine, because otherwise he's not getting fed often enough to get the correct nutrition.

We also have chicks hatching in the aviary. One is a surprise as it's a lutino. It should be a pearl pied lutino so it will be very pretty. But that pair have 8 more eggs in the nest! I'll have to take the older ones to finish because I know all the other eggs are developing and that's just too many babies.

The local petshop would love some hand reared cockatiels to sell (they can have the more common colours and I'll sell any special ones myself) and they also want some quail, so there are quail eggs in my incubator.

Now I'll just go and catch up on what you've all been up to. :frow
