Look for food grade sour salt in the canning section of the storeI use that to descale the humidifier. Pretty cheap on Amazon, I've never looked for it at the grocery store.

This quote belongs in my thread above.Good morning Sour! I think you've had enough of the white stuff for now, don't you?
He's quite the holdout! Once I start my wood stove in October it pretty much stays running until at least mid March. It’s up to a brisk -11 right now. Hubby fired up the wood stove for the first time this winter.
I wish. He usually saves it for the really cold days. The only room that is ever warm in our house is the living room. We have the gas fireplace and the storage heater in there, that’s where the heat for the rest of the house comes from. We have electric heat but rarely use it as it’s so expensive. He's quite the holdout! Once I start my wood stove in October it pretty much stays running until at least mid March.

The English Araucana eggs arent as blue as the Rumpless Araucana eggs but they sure brighten up the egg carton.
I also have a broody bantam. She's a little sweetie so I've given her 3 eggs and we'll see what happens. Most of our old girls are molting already! I hope that doesn't mean winter is coming early.
