The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning folks :frow

Hello everyone! :frow

Delta has reached the shores of the 'hermit kingdom' so we are in lockdown. Our vaccination rate is abysmally low (only 21% are fully vaccinated) but that's due to the government dragging its feet and being thoroughly disorganised. Our poor hospitals are already stretched to the limit due to various winter ills, including an RSV virus that is hitting many young children hard, plus being horribly underfunded for many, many years. So we cannot afford a big outbreak, but the number of cases are creeping up and it is in schools, universities, churches - all the places it can gain a real foot hold. At this point in time it is in two cities, but we know many Aucklanders escaped the city, travelling to other centres before lockdown began, so they may very well have taken it with them.

My DH is still being made to work by his boss even though we can't quite work out how it would be considered an 'essential business' and despite contacting various government agencies in an attempt to get a straight answer out of someone, we are still in the dark. :he

But so far we are all ok. I'm waiting for a sheep to pop but, although they are fat as puddings and their udders are growing, none look to be very close to giving us a lamb quite yet. We have about 3 weeks until our calves start to be born, so DH has started spraying the carrot weed (as that can taint the taste of milk and I'm still hoping to milk one of our girls).

My bantam hen with a nest in the tree is due to start hatching chicks today. She didn't come down for breakfast so something must be happening. Her sister is sitting in another tree on eggs (and I forgot to write down when she started sitting)! I put a few eggs in the incubator too as our two old OEGB hens laid us one precious egg each, so I wanted to incubate them, so I added a few more bantam eggs. But again, I didn't write down when I set them.
Best of luck with all the new critters... So sorry Delta made its way there.
Good morning everyone, according to my calendar, it's time for:

Good morning Debby and all.

I fell back to sleep…sorry! We were at the fair 3 nights and I have a shortage of sleep.
No special plans. I want to get all my windows washed and hubby wants to get wood hauled into the house before harvest and that’s the extent of my fun:D
