Sorry to hear about your mother Bob. Is she far away from you & Sue? Hope she'll be ok.

She's about 500 miles north of us, just outside of Chicago

I would say that she is. She has been growing progressively more forgetful, but as she is in her 80s, and not knowing about her falls, we believed it to be age related.
When she fell this week, she swore that she did not hit her head, but when she said she had neck pain and wasn't able to eat, I insisted on an exam. She was surprisingly cooperative. That signaled that something was up too.
I believe that she has been hiding her falls/ injuries because for the last year, we have been trying to encourage her to sell her home and move into a senior living complex or live with family.
She is a very independent, twice widowed lady. She raised her sons alone, and on a secretary's salary, with very little family support. I admire her very much. I know that growing old has been rough on her. I'm assuming that she will be open to living with us, once this issue is resolved. I'm being optimistic about the situation.

500 miles is a drive for sure, it's hard when families get spread out so far.

@rjohns39 I send great empathy your way. My mother and father moved from NJ to Fla. Father died at 69 - mother remained in Fla. another 28 years. We were here in NJ. Luckily she remained mentally strong until her death. At age 93 she asked me to take charge of her finances and at 95 she decided to move to an assisted care facility. There was one within 2 miles of her home also in close proximity to a hospital - perfect arrangement. I understand the feeling of 'lack of control' and the anxiety of looking at the phone upon returning home to see if the message light was blinking. Yeah, all of this pretty much before cell phones. Parenting our parents is extremely difficult.

Better then 80’s and 90’sWe got 3/4’s inch of rain yesterday. It doesn’t dry as quickly this time of year.

Hi Debby still have 3 more weeks in the sling, PT is moving along with stretches and neck stretches that I do at home. When they stretch out my arm, I just want to cry because it hurts. I just keep thinking it will get better over time.
