I look back on raising Jamie and Little DIane into adulthood and realize that except for that brief couple of years when we let DIane go back to live with her Dad, raising those two grandkids was the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done with my life. To love them, to guide them, to help them to get over the hurt of their abandonment, and to encourage them to learn that it was okay for them to love their mother despite all they’d been through took a lot time and emotional energy.Getting along, same as usual
Oh my. How does one physically AND emotionally prepare for that on no notice???
Given your daughter's problems you might be raising your grandson to adulthood.
Congrats (I guess?) and LOTS of![]()
Absolutely spot on!I'm sorry for your stress Chrissy. What an unexpected event! Congratulations on the baby, I'm guessing that he will be your silver lining!
Don't give up hope for your daughter, but If possible, find a lawyer who specializes in family law. Secure your right to custody, it is in the baby's best interest. Hopefully your daughter will want the best for him, even if it means letting someone else care for, and raise him.
I hope you have a good support system.
I think we’re gonna get it too!! We’re getting ready to head to the store as soon as I get off here. We don’t need much because I keep us pretty well stocked. But I planned to get chicken stock made and want to get more fresh veg to add to it.Blooie, are you all expecting a storm? Tommorow we're supposed to get it pretty good.
Good morning, everyone! Another paint day planned….we’ll see!

We weren’t prepared for a 6 year old girl and an 11 year old boy, even though it was about the 4th time we’d had Jamie. One day they were here with their mom, getting ready to move in their trailer rental, the next minute we came home at 8 pm to 2 little children alone, hungry, and confused. We found the note that said daughter couldn’t “make it here. I’ll send for the kids when I’m ready.” Um, the he11 you will! We had a great support system in this little town as we maneuvered through the scary and unfamiliar hoops of obtaining full custody of them.
And I‘d do it all again.
