The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Tree squirrels do damage to power lines here.
Especially when they short out a transformer.
BOOM!
And the lights go out for hours.

I don't know how you do it DMC. You must have the patience of a saint.
Again I will say how much I admire your work DMC. I wouldn't last a minute.

And Sargent Nurse, the bat who tried to force Tam up there by pushing her weight around and criticizing Tam for being a “coward” and for not pulling her weight with the “team”, was given 2 weeks unpaid leave and the suggestion that she rethink her idea of teamwork.
:yesss:
Maybe Sargent Nurse will also rethink where she works.

One can only hope, Bruce. But like Tam says, she’s an absolutely superb nurse. It’s just that her people skills with staff are sadly lacking. Tam said hers isn’t the first complaint they’ve received about Sargent Nurse, and pretty much for the same thing - being over-zealous. Hope this time she learns.

Afternoon all
Hi IM.
I hope your dad is comfortable at home, and that you and your mom aren't overly stressed.
Exciting news! Tam got her job back!! First her residents raised a big stink to supervisors when she left, then her co-workers talked her into applying again. She put in her application on Friday. As soon as her best friend and co-worker heard Tam reapplied, she and the rest of “The Tam Squad” put a we-miss-Tam campaign into action. She got the call on Monday and her interview was this morning. She told me she didn’t know exactly what she was going to say, but she had been practicing “passive/aggressive groveling” in front of the mirror.

Wasn’t even needed. First thing her supervisor did was come around her desk, give Tam a hug, and apologize for not being available when Tam needed her the most. She told Tam that if she came back to work, the only thing they’d require was that she not discuss her job, why she left, or what her new terms are with the residents, who are still upset and speculating that “Tam must have been fired for no reason because she’d never walk out on us on her own.” They haven’t been told she’s starting back up on Tuesday.

Supervisor also told Tam that as far as they were concerned, Tam was right to expect that the promise that she’d never have to work second floor again would be kept. Tam was going to force herself to work it that night, but her co-workers stepped in and got someone up there who normally works that floor. That promise still applies, but now it’s in writing in her brand new personnel file. And Sargent Nurse, the bat who tried to force Tam up there by pushing her weight around and criticizing Tam for being a “coward” and for not pulling her weight with the “team”, was given 2 weeks unpaid leave and the suggestion that she rethink her idea of teamwork. Tam’s always filled in in an emergency, but calling her at 4 pm, 2 hours before her shift starts and ordering her to cover for someone who was at the end of week 1 of her 2 week vacation did not constitute an emergency.

Tam also apologized for losing her temper and giving her 2 weeks’ notice when all of the supervisors were gone for the day. She’d never lost her temper at work before, not in the 13.5 years she’s been there, and her Supervisor acknowledged that. Tam admitted she handled it badly but all she could feel was total panic about being up on 2nd floor totally overwhelming her and being bullied into doing something she was terrified to do. And she knows now that she can call either of her supervisors after hours if she really needs them….she was always told that anything that came up after hours could wait until the next business day, unless it directly impacted residents’ safety.

So all is good in the world again. No more hour long drive to work through some of the most desolate area of the Basin in bad weather, working overnight, then driving back home exhausted. I’m so relieved!!
That's great news, Blooie. Congratulations to Tam!

I'm pleased the push around bully got a slap on the wrist and put in her place. I loathe bullies of any kind

I'm so happy for Tam. It's unfortunate that the bully is still there but now Tam has someone to call when she rears her ugly head! Maybe that will keep the peace.
