Well, as it turns out Katie has one more speech competition. The girls’ wins made them eligible for the District meet. She and Isabelle are leaving today for Rock Springs where they will compete against kids from Wyoming, Utah and Idaho, which is part of one district. If (make that “when” - thinking positive here) they win the District meet, they will compete in the Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky in June! Nice article in the local paper about them today, except in one part it says Katie took 2nd in 3A (which is correct) but further down it says she took 3rd. But I love the characterization….her coach said she is quiet but when she gives her speech she’s explosive and a “firecracker”. Yep, that describes her perfectly! And the school has one of those huge electronic signs out front….guess whose name is plastered on it! Gotta say this is all mighty encouraging for a Freshman competing for the first year!

So all of the “good luck” you all wished her last weekend paid off…..can you do it again?? One more time?
