The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

@N F C, are you around?? I just pulled up your pizza recipe but I have a question…actually 2.

Ken and I have to run to Cody today. How far ahead can I make the dough? I mean, can I make it this morning, leave for Cody around noon, and come back and finish making the pizza? Can it just sit out that long or will it overproof unless I put it in the fridge?

I don’t own a pizza stone. Usually when I make pizza I just use a sheet pan, but I confess that I’ve always used a packaged pizza crust. This will be my first “from scratch” dough. Do I need to pick up a pizza stone while we’re in Cody?

Don't worry about a stone Blooie. Sometimes I use one and sometimes I don't.

If you're going to be gone a few hours, I'd put the dough in the fridge and then pull it out maybe an hour before working with it. If it's too cold, it will be more difficult to shape so let it warm up a bit first.

Wish I was going to Cody! That's such a fun little town. Have a safe trip!

Thanks, Debby. That‘s what I’ll do then. And I won’t worry about the stone - that’s something I can do at a later date if I decide I want one. Right now we’re trying to squeeze every penny because we still have stuff we need for the house.

I love Cody too. But with gas prices now, I just wish it wasn’t 50 miles away! :he

The stone can wait, you'll still end up with a tasty pizza! I think the stone makes the crust a little crispier but a lot of times I skip it (because I'm lazy and the stone is heavy).

What are you paying for gas up there now? We're at $3.80 - $3.90 so still under $4...never would have thought to be grateful for gas under $4 a gallon. :rolleyes:

Baseball game this morning - transmission was crystal clear - could have taken a little blurry - they got mercy ruled 10/0 in the seventh inning. Other team hit 3 homeruns and had outstanding pitching.
Wow! I can see what you mean! How many games to go?

Debby, we paid $4.15 in Powell. Yikes.

Two games tomorrow.
Wishing him good luck!!

Just got some stunning news…Isabelle is unable to make it to the District competition this weekend. That means <gulp> it’s just Katie going! Holy smokes, no pressure on the Freshman kid here! They left this morning. It’s my understanding that it was just Katie, the coach, and assistant coach. I thought I was nervous before….Katie will be lost without her friend and mentor Isabelle there. She felt secure. Only the team and the coaches know about Katie’s Autism. I hope that the disruption isn’t enough of a trigger to cause her to lose focus, and if it does I’m praying that it doesn’t make her discouraged enough to quit.

Blooie, extra prayers for Katie! She can rock this if not rattled too badly.
