The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

A couple of the books Lehane wrote have been made into movies...Gone Baby Gone and Shutter Island. As usual, the books are best (even though those movies are good too).

Robert Crais has a bit of humor in his stories and I love his 2 main characters (Joe Pike and Elvis Cole).

His books are good!

I kept my eyes closed through that movie...ugh, rodents!
I know how you feel. I tried to watch "Big Sky". Box should be cringing that they used his Cody & Casey Dewell characters that way. They are nothing as described. I turned it off pretty quickly, when it turned into a daytime soap, instead of mystery/crime t.v.
The only movie that I have ever preferred over a book was The Shining. I did enjoy Pet Cemetery, but the book was better. I hated what they did to The Stand!

Oh hush! You're not wicked, just misunderstood!
Wicked always reminds me of a story from long ago.
I'm not, and have never been, much of a drinker. One night I was playing scrabble with my husband and some pals, margaritas were flowing.
I spelled wicked. A fellow drinker said "that's not a word! What does it meen?"
I replied " wick-d" it has something to do with candles." My husband cracked up.
A few days later, we passed the community theater, with a sign for "Something Wicked This Way Comes" 🤣 I've never felt so stupid in my life.

You play Scrabble the same way my husband does (and he can't even blame it on alcohol). :gig

I'm laughing just thinking about it. I'm going to grab some margarita mix, when I go to the store tomorrow. I'll challenge dh to a match. We haven't played in forever!

DH's latest new word is "hooty". I didn't challenge him and he ended up winning the game.

P.S. "Hooty" is not a valid Scrabble word in case anyone tries to pull that one on you. Consider yourself warned (or tipped off in case you want to use it).:gig

What does hooty mean? Is that a sound from an owl? Slang for an "overconfident man"?

I don't know what he was trying to say. But it's not in either the Scrabble dictionary or the Merriam-Webster!

Cheater, maybe he did have something to drink and was keeping it from me!

I hate the scrabble dictionary. Some of those words are ridiculous, especially the two letter words with "Z" and "X".
My dh always wins. I don't mind, I just enjoy playing.

I like the 2 letter words...za, qi...those can bring home the "W"! And Q words that don't need a U in them.

DH and I might just be a tiny bit competitive when it comes to Scrabble.

Pet Cemetery gave me the heebies…as did Children of the Corn and Salem’s lot. Five of us girls slept in the same bed after Salem’s Lot.

Salem's Lot was a real classic! I loved the book so much more, than the movie. I barely remember Children of the Corn. The Birds is my all time favorite thriller, though it isn't as scary as it once was.
None of thes scared me as bad, as the disaster movies, that my mother used to watch. I was traumatized by The Poseidan Adventure. I won't even go near a cruise ship. (Besides, I've heard they have rats!)🤣
