Good morning, Bob šŸ¦‹
Just told the Princess about my comment about 'ship shape'. She grunted, "Yeah, just like the Titanic." The woman makes me laugh. :lau
Laughter is the key to a happy relationship. I think it might be the key to a happy life too.
Good morning all. have a great day. :love🌹

Had my appointment with the ENT ā€œdoctorā€ today. What a disaster. Here’s the scenario, start to finish.

* His office was - was - located in the Billings Clinic Medical Center in Cody, near Walmart. So we got there and we’re informed that he moved in May. Nobody could tell me that when the appointment was made? Then I realized I’d seen him before when my throat was closed up and didn’t care much for him then. Oh oh.

* New office is a long, skinny building and there are no rooms. NO rooms, just those portable office cubicle dividers. So much for Hipa. I’m surprised there is a door on the restroom.

* Handed insurance info over to receptionist and explained that our car insurance would be primary, then Medicare, then lastly our supplement. She was totally confused and had to make a phone call to see how to handle that. She explained to us that with insurance every single step has to be done in exact order or they can’t get paid. She said after 3 times of making insurance mistakes they don’t get paid at all, and they were already on chance #2. She said they had $300,000 in payments that weren’t coming in because of insurance mistakes, and because of that they had to let all of their employees go because they couldn’t afford to pay them. Now I ask you, in what professional office does a receptionist tell a patient those kinds of awful financial details?

* Went into a cubicle and the doctor finally came in. He was delayed because he was waiting for a fax from the audiologist with my hearing test results. Get this….he came in carrying the green clipboard with the paperwork I’d filled in clipped to it. He was using it as a tray to carry his cup of coffee on!! He sat down and immediately asked, ā€œHave you ever had major surgery?ā€ I started to list them and he stopped me, saying, ā€œThat’s enough. I don’t need to hear any more.ā€ He announced to us that my hearing tests revealed that I’m totally deaf in my left ear. Yeah, I’ve kinda known that for 11 years. I figured it out all by myself when I couldn’t hear out of it. <sigh>

* Without even examining me, he tells us, ā€œWell, I’m not gonna do anything for you because you can’t take Prednisone.ā€ Not, I’m really sorry but your allergy is concerning…or…Prenisone is the usual treatment but unfortunately we can’t do that….I could have understood and respected that. Instead I felt like something he wanted to scrape off his shoe. Just that blunt statement. He said he wasn’t even going to do any kind of testing. Then he said, ā€œYou’ve got hearing aids now so you’ll have to use them.ā€ I told him I had the hearing aids but that they were just demos. I have to return them in a couple of weeks and they’re so expensive I don’t know if we can get new ones. He just shrugged and basically said then I’d have to learn to go without.

* He got ready to leave and Ken said, ā€œWhat about her middle ear?ā€ He finally put his coffee down - he’d been drinking it the whole time - and came over, took out my hearing aid, looked, and said, ā€œIt looks healthy.ā€ Then he left. Total appointment time, less than 5 minutes. Humanity, zero. Compassion, zero. Professionalism, zero. Interest (real or feigned), zero.

Ken and I were furious….not necessarily about nothing being able to be done, but about the crappy treatment. And I still don’t know if there are any options besides Prednisone even available. I’m going to call my primary, ask him to set me up with the really good ENT I saw in Billings when I lost my left ear hearing, and strongly suggest that the clinic and the ER stop referring patients to this moron. I’ve heard of bad bedside manner, but this was beyond anything either of us had ever experienced. And on the way out, the receptionist (and only other employee, BTW) had the audacity to ask me to leave a review!!! Nah, sweetheart, you really don’t want me to go to your website and do that now do you???
That is infuriating! What a terrible doctor and experience...and they'll get paid for it. I really hope you're able to see the other doctor and get actual answers.
Idk about you but if they asked for a review, an honest one could help future patients from going to him.

Good morning all - gonna be a hot one today, methinks. We have to go to Billings today for my annual lung scan. Tried to talk Little DIane into going up with us but she said she was gonna stay here, keep an eye on the dogs, and get her laundry done. I thought about asking her to clean out the fridge but then decided I’d be too embarrassed with what she might find lurking in there.

Guess I’ll leave a review for that quack but I don’t see that it’ll do much good. Our local hospital and clinic do a lot of referrals to him because he’s the only ENT in the area. Most people don’t like driving way up to Billings when they’re already hurt or sick and Cody is a lot closer. Me? At this point I’ll take a referral to an ENT in Peoria if it means avoiding what I just went through. I am going to let my primary know in no uncertain terms exactly why they need to rethink.

Chicks are growing like weeds out there! This batch isn’t as relaxed around us as previous groups have been. I sure can’t explain that - they were raised just as all our other chicks were raised. Even Tank 3 is more standoffish. Well, I’ve never been one for ā€œlap chickensā€ anyway, so as long as they stay healthy and lay well that’s all I’ll ask of them. Sure some pretty ones out there! Ken and Kenny went ahead and put the plastic up over the run. I protested….it’s awfully hot for that plastic….but we’ve had an unusual amount of heavy rains for this area and the run needs to stay dry. They left the ends wide open, and since most of our winds come from the south and north there’s usually a pretty stiff breeze going through it.
