The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

The contractor started on Thursday. He worked by himself that day and yesterday. He’s not working full days which I can’t blame him. He has his brother in law here today so hopefully they get a chunk done. We have an easy house to shingle but the heat slows things down. I think they are only working until noon. I am just grateful to have him. He had quit doing this and got a job working for another company. I don’t know how we lucked out but he’s only taking a couple jobs for the summer and we got him.

Glad you have someone DMC. :thumbsup

How I Spent My Summer Vacation.

Looks like a beautiful vacation spot!
Thanks! It’s sure been a lot of work, and I wish the back looked as good as the front, but we’re getting there. At our ages we can work in surges, then need to take a day off to recover. So progress can sure seem slow.

We’ll be down to just one dog when Little DIane goes home. She’s taking Rueben with her. From the moment she stepped foot in the house, he adopted her. Fee greeted her politely then has mostly ignored her, but RJ decided she was his person and that was that. He totally ignores us and follows her everywhere. He sleeps on the floor next to her bed, lets her groom him, walk him, and does anything she asks. She went to Ken and asked if she could take him back with her. She recently lost her beloved Border Collie, Rusty, and although she wanted another dog she didn’t want to start over with a puppy. She was going to adopt a shelter dog when she got home. So we talked it over and decided that it would be a great fit for both of them. Realistically two dogs, one with an extremely high energy level, was a bit more than these old people should have taken on, so it looks like a win, win. Fee is easy…she’s basically a rug who eats. He’s an Everready Bunny, hard to keep up with! The one thing we made clear was that if at any time she is unable to keep him, she is responsible for getting him back here to us.

It sounds ideal for both you and Ken, Diane, the bunny, and the rug that eats! I hope it all goes well.

Your home looks so pretty Blooie :love

Sounds like a win-win for everyone!

I’m glad you guys are enjoying your porch! I can’t wait until ours is done. What kind of flowers are in your pots?
The flowers in the front hanging pots are Begonias. They are Ken’s favorites but we’ve always had too much sun for them before. Now they get a couple of hours of early morning sun, and then shade the rest of the day. Ideal. We also have a huge pot of purple and pink petunias (Little DIane picked them out) and a trellis pot with Shrimp plants and fuchsias. I have a plant stand with red madevillas. I have butterfly bushes planted in the yard, a Shepard’s hook with two pots of red and white petunias, a basket of pink and yellow flowers, and a whisky barrel with white and red petunias, coleus, and Blue Knight Salvia. The immature front flower bed has columbine, pentestamon, and pinaple sage. It all should look pretty nice when it matures. I still have to get the clematis planted but still looking for the ideal spot for it.

Told ya I’d been trying to keep busy to keep my mind off what’s coming up! :lau

Everything should come together…..news home for Rueben, new home for us!
It sounds ideal for both you and Ken, Diane, the bunny, and the rug that eats! I hope it all goes well.
I trust Bumbley with any kind of animal, so it wasn‘t a hard decision. Fee is about over Rueben pouncing on her when she’s all stretched out for a nap and pestering her every time she turns around, so I doubt if she’ll even miss him!

Sounds like a win-win for everyone!
It’s coming along, Debby. The back is a train wreck, though. <sigh>
