The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

The fridge finally got here and is cooling right now! The not so good news is there's a good sized dent about the size of a silver dollar on the front door, at eye level where I'll be see it always. I'm waiting for the company to call me back and see what sort of adjustment they'll make to the purchase price.
That is sad!
I hope you can get an adjustment.

I had a new subframe put under Susie's car my gosh are these cars built cheep. A paper-thin frame. I 'm just glad it didn't have electronic power steering. I think a lot of cars do. Can you imagine? A sensor sends a message to the computer telling the motor which way to turn the steering wheel! What's this world coming to?
Our 2011 Ford Escape has electric power steering. We have not had any problems with it.

I would be concerned about that.
I don't have one, won't be getting one, so I'm not too worried about it. (My dogs would destroy it, I'm sure)
But. I think almost all of our children have them. I worry most about the nursery monitors, and the whole house monitors. I've read stories about people hacking into them.
There was an interesting story a couple of years ago, about a place that was planning to open a store front in Houston, to sell sex robots. It didn't open of course.

I've always loved science fiction, but I'd prefer that it remain fiction.

Crazy! And kind of creepy too.

Makes me think of Westworld

A couple of times I've read the book "Expiration Day" by William Campbell Powell. I don't usually do sci-fi but this one I like.

In the future human children are a rarity so couples raise androids as if they are human kids. On their 18th b-day all the android kids expire and have to be returned to the company that created them. The main character is a young girl that thinks she's a human child but as her 18th birthday gets close, she finds out she's actually one of the androids.

Kind of a weird story, but interesting!
