The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

What, one of your cakes go to waste?!? Not around here it wouldn't

The story of my cake...I was going to bake a cake, but the oven is severely uneven and DH hasn't had a chance to balance it out yet. So I went to the grocery store to buy ingredients to make tiramisu but they didn't have mascarpone or lady fingers. I ended up buying a small one from the store bakery and it's horrible. Some day there will be cake here (just not right now)
Good morning, Debby 🐿 I'm sorry you missed out on good cake!

Good morning all, have a great day

Good morning Debby, sorry your cake wasn’t good! This reminds me of a birthday one year. I was actually baking the cake and the oven died. We had no cake or dinner.
Good morning, IM🐿
I had that experience with an ice cream maker for our little boys' birthday party. I was so aggravated.

That's the sort of thing that seems to happen mostly on special occasions and holidays. Guess we need to sneak up on baking for those things, and don't let the appliances know what we're up to.
I have the worst stove. When we were building, we ordered maytag appliances. Lowes canceled our order because of a production issue. So last minute, we had to pick something in stock. I went with Frigidaire Professional. The stove burners are awful; they cook on high, or not at all. I complained, but the warranty was already expired. There have been multiple complaints, so I keep up with the bbb and consumer reports, in case of a recall. Now people are complaining that the oven glass is blowing out during baking.
Never will I buy frigidaire again!

I will never own GE appliances for a similar reason, and have been quite disappointed with Maytag too. Our Maytag washer and dryer were awful, it took forever to dry a load of clothes and the dryer started screaming about something two or three days out of warranty.

I actually like my maytag washer and dryer, (knock on wood) they are probably as good as it gets nowadays, with the low water levels, slow agitation, and lock lids.

I tend to read reviews. That makes it really hard to shop for appliances. The reviews are all so bad. I don't really like the ceramic cook tops either, but we have all electric here, and you can't find anything else.

Frigidaire recalled the professional range in Canada several years back, but they won't do it in the US.
