The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

It has gone up about 25% since last year. Pine shavings haven't changed.

  Are you buying organic (I sure hope so for that price)?
50# of Poulin Grain non organic layer pellets is now $15.50. Scratch is $16 but that lasts 6 months since they only get a 5.5 oz cat food can amount each afternoon. $28 (taxable even though *I* only feed it to my chickens) for #40 of BOSS. They get that same 5.5 oz can in the morning and the bag lasts about 6 months.

@ronott1 hatched some store bought eggs a year (or 3 or 4?) ago.

1: Love the name
2: Suck it up cat, you aren't getting fed at 4:30 here!! Pre breakfast snack is about 6 while DW gets ready for work. Actual breakfast anywhere from 7-8 AM.

Happy Anniversary!

The new covered patio sure makes that snow look more manageable.
I don't feed organic, but all flock feeds are always higher than layer pellets. Even purina flock raiser is $30 at our local tsc
I am paying a tad extra at chewy for convenience.
Junapurr is quite persistent and not quite at all when she is hungry.

Good morning Sour! I was thinking of you this morning while making DH some oatmeal raisin cookies and wondering whether he would prefer male cookies or female :gig (He's getting female cookies.)

It's our wedding anniversary today (just 11 years for us, we're almost newlyweds).
Happy Anniversary Debby! Is DH taking you somewhere nice for dinner?

Thank you IM!

We're staying in and having a nice dinner...blue cheese & bacon burgers and homemade seasoned fries. And the oatmeal raisin cookies for dessert.

So a few of our favorite things plus cheaper and easier than going out!

I pay $27 for flock raiser. I just can’t bring myself to feed layer to the rooster and it’s easier when there’re chicks around.

Yummy! We usually stay home too, maybe watch a movie. Well, hubs watches and I fall asleep most of the time.

How do you make your homemade fries?

Seasoned Fries

2-4 potatoes (depending on size)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Olive oil

Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice into sticks, around 1/4" thick. Put into bowl and rinse well in cold water, soak the potatoes at least 30 minutes (to removed starch from potatoes). Rinse well. Lay out on several layers of paper towel and get as dry as possible.

Spread potatoes out on a foil lined baking sheet in a single layer. Mix up the seasonings. Lightly toss the potatoes with the olive oil then toss the seasonings on the potatoes, coating the potatoes evenly.

Bake at 400* for 15 minutes. Turn the potatoes over. Increase oven to 425* and bake another 15-20 minutes.

They're delicious!
