The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I started getting ocular migraines several years ago. usually I only get swirling colors but last time I had a bit of nausea with a headache. The swirling colors went away quickly but the other symptoms lasted a bit more than a day.
People with migraine syndrome have different auras, this is yours. Mine is an inability to concentrate (follow logic paths) and extra trips to the bathroom. Easiest to notice when I was working as a software developer. Much less need to do such logic things now that I am retired.

Fortunately I don't have them often now that I know the triggers. My migraines seem to be food and scent related.
  • Artificial sweeteners are near instant death
  • MAN MADE fragrances (including whatever is in Purell, Covid was a problem in more ways than one). The "cleaning aisle" in the grocery store is a no-go or hold my breath and hurry if I need something from it and I better know what I want and where it is. Proximity to scented candles, even those wrapped up in the store, is to be avoided! And NO room air "fresheners". If you want the house to smell nice, make soup or bake something ;) Frankly, spraying stink doesn't really freshen anything and clean clothes don't smell!
  • Cigarette smoke - hold breath, move fast and avoid the smoker!
  • MSG, no good.
  • Nitrates, no good.
  • Citrus, not great.
It seems I can "walk the line and step just over occasionally" with some foods, but don't do them in combination or near each other in time.

Caffeine withdrawal in people who drink a lot of coffee can also trigger migraines. You'll figure this one out when you have to go cold turkey for a blood draw ;)

Sonic cures everything :drool
except excess weight ;)

Good day all

Good day all
"except excess weight "🤣

Cigarettes and the powdery base in cheap perfumes make me ill, as do amonia based cleaning products.
I believe my ocular migraines are mostly weather related and florescent light related. Mine were diagnosed about 25 years ago, when I began having Jacksonian seizures. I knew I felt "weird " but I didn't know I was having seizures. I was working with a doctor who noticed. I then went to an ophthalmologist and a neurologist, both of whom confirmed it. Only the ophthalmologist discussed my diet with me.
Strange how those in the medical profession no so little about nutrition and its affect on our health.
They always seem to start when there are prolonged periods of wet weathe and high pressure. The lighting isn't much a of a problem now that I'm not working.

My migraines were triggered by hormones. Menopause took care of that. :old
