The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

We got an estimate from the fence company to do our backyard. That was quick (and a decent price too). Now I'm waiting for a survey company to call me back.

Hopefully we can get all these parts & pieces moving in the right direction and get something done this summer :fl
That’s good news!

I don't like to think of them as rodents, especially when they are on the end of my fork. 🤣
Also, when cooked right, they aren't gamey at all. Taste rather like very tender roast beef.
I've eaten squirrel, and it's yummy. So I would probably try groundhog. 🤔 🤔 But I never could bring myself to eat nutria.... possibly because i grew up calling them swamp rats. 🤢

Eewwwwwww I wouldn’t eat squirrel lol

I went to the local farmer’s market with the club and got a bunch of really nice, fresh vegetables as well as some homemade cookies for the dog. It was awesome!!! We’re going back next week to get some plants for the garden at the club and/or at home.

My grandma used to make the very best mincemeat pies, I loved them. It wasn't until many years later, I was told she made them with squirrel.

I haven't missed them since finding that out. :sick

Back in the working days someone would bring in a home cooked lunch every Thursday. I once made squirrel sauerbraten with noodles. No one knew what it was except one country girl from NC. When they found out one person actually vomited - of course she had three helpings. :p
