The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I wonder if I'm "just north of you" as I forgot already if I knew, but we're getting supposedly a rain/snow mix today. All I've seen is rain and it took almost all the snow. I had the brooder babies out even yesterday when it was 45F and going to try it again today. They're 6-week-old silkies I'm trying to toughen up lol.
I'm about in the center of the state. There's some light snow flurries falling currently even though it's above freezing. Good day to stay inside.

I had a broody Bantam hatch one chick about 4 weeks ago. It grew in it's feathers pretty quickly with the cold temperatures we had. Hopefully your little silkie chicks do well. They are tougher than some people think. I didn't have any problems with them handling our Wisconsin winters when I kept some years ago.

I hope your snow doesn't amount to a lot, that could put a damper on your walks.

I'm fine Kelsey, how are you doing?
That’s good!! I’m alright. Have another migraine but otherwise good.
At least there is one student with a head on their shoulders!

That's OK, just remember what all they discussed and coping methods. You will be FINE! We have faith in you, and you should as well.

Thank goodness he didn't decide he needed to mark his territory!
Thank you!! Good point. I’ll definitely remember it, I kept all the sheets. 😁🥰

LOL thank goodness is right! :lau

They aren't fully feathered but the hutch they have out in our parrot aviary has a cozy coop in the back end, and the first time they stayed huddled up to it. Today, they were wandering around outside of it but when dusk hit, I went to check and they were huddled up outside on the concrete. Their food is in the doorway to it but they couldn't figure it out I guess. I grabbed them and brought them in as already one has been sneezing and I didn't want to chance it tonight if they came out of the hutch and couldn't find their way back in. Silkies are smart said no one ever!

I want a pen of silkies so bad. Wish I knew more about them. Bantam only or do they come in full size? I have a design for a row of broody coops that have a door way into a large pen, not just a run. Each coop would have a small coop for one hen that is broody plus a main coop and run that has a door way into the large pen. A real baby factory.
