Good morning, Rene. I'm a helicopter mom. I can't imagine the stress of having a child in law enforcement. God bless him, and you! That is so heartbreaking.
The roads are much more congested now than they were, even at the time of my parents accident, 40 years ago, which was just a freak thing. My youngest son always wanted a bike, until he became a state trooper and he realized how crazy the roads are today.
Jim, my husband, had a close call not too many years before we quit riding. He was in Austin to visit friends. He stopped at a red light and a bus behind him didn't stop soon enough. It pushed him out into the intersection. He had a back injury but otherwise he was fine. The bike needed a little work so while it was in the shop, we went shopping for a convertible for our upcoming vacation. We had intended to sell the bike after that but ended up taking a few more trips. I've loved motorcycles all my life, but now I just enjoy looking at them.
