The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I don't think its the climate. We are in zone 8. I've just never been able to get them to bloom again once planted. I've tried several kinds of organice fertilizer but I just don't have the magic mum touch.
I'm awesome at growing turks cap though. The one in the back yard is out of control. Lol. The birds love the fruit so I guess they are helping it spread its seed.
Do you maybe have to cut them back and they’ll flower again? Several things I chopped to the bottom grew again.

Beautiful flowers Cynthia! Your little silkie looks pretty in front.

I don't do anything special to plan mums, just dig a hole and stick them in the ground like any other flower. I don't trim them in the fall, I trim the dead stems off in the spring.
See, thats what I wondered about too. The trimming. I see a neighbor's looking nice and big. She doesn't trim them down. I used to trim diwn. If they still come back with just dead heading I'll do that. :)
Good morning everyone!

I get that! We use Walmart`s delivery service. My DW goes to a local Amish discount grocerie store too but a lot of other customers are very rude! 😳
Good morning, Barry.
I was wishing I had done the delivery service. It rained on me on the way there and on the way back. It was just enoigh to make the truck look dirty. We didn't get any rain out here at our place at all.
Its amazing how rude people are now. A lot of them, I think, do not know they are rude. They just haven't been taught any better.

Thanks! Me too! The thing I’m most excited about is having an oven light.😁
My current one doesn’t work. It hasn’t worked for years.

Hi Janie, thanks! I’m sure I will.😊
So happy for you! And yes, it's always nice to be able to peek at whats going on in that oven without opening the door. Waiting to see the very first thing baked in that new oven.

I had to look up turks cap, never heard of them. Very pretty!
Good morning, Debby.
Turkscap bushes are humingbird magnets when blooming and the other birds love the berries. Mine are starting to get scruffy looking.
This one is out back. It is almost spent. Its about 8' circumference this year.

This one is still full.

If you look closely you can see the red berries amongst the pink flowers.

I missed yesterday. I overdid the ither day. Shopped. Planted. Used the leaf blower. It may not sound like much but I need to remember how much I can and can't do. My Vestibular problems and Lupus sure do remind me. I just chilled the rest of that evening and all yesterday. I did make a meatloaf yesterday.
I hope you all have a wonderful day. Supposed to get up to 66 today. A chance od rain by afternoon. :)

Good morning, DMC.
They bloom here from early spring to late fall. They die back in the winter and I have to cut all the dry limbs out.
