Sometimes they have to be removed but it's sad when an old tree friend has to go. Will you plant something new and pretty inside that ring the tree used to be in?

Not right away, at least not a new tree. We might turn the stump into a planter. It's very large and will be hard to remove.

I'm with you on that... especially when spring is so close. It's time to be outside.

At my Casper house we had a tree stump in the front yard. We put a ring of bricks around it and filled it with dirt and turned it into a big planter. I used to fill it up with petunias, so pretty! You can see it on the left side of the house:

Yep, a short growing season but long enough to do what I wanted (mostly flowers and tomatoes). I loved that house, we totally redid the interior and it was so pretty. I miss living there.

I bet it was beautiful. It's hard when you spend a lot of time on something and make it how you want it. I know, I'm going to be heartbroken whenever the day comes that we will have to sell our place. There's times that I'm ready, but then I get really sad thinking about it.
