The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning Debby! Thanks for the giggle...lol
What's your weather doing to you this week? Any chance of planting flowers yet?
We potted our Dahlias and Cana Lily's yesterday. I need to pot my tomatoes, some have outgrown the cups I put them in. But, we still have some overnight freezing temps looming this week.

Have a lovely day! ☀️🐝🌸🌻🌺☀️

Good morning Rene :frow

Our 10-day forecast shows between high 50's and low 70's. When I was out a couple days ago the stores didn't have all their plants out for sale but I'm hoping by this coming weekend I can pick some up.

Love Dahlias and Cana lily's! Do you have to dig them up every fall so they don't freeze over the winter?

Gotta run, I'll be back!

Yes, we get too cold here. Your temp range sounds the same as ours for the next couple of weeks. We are expecting some overnight freezing.

Hope your appointment goes well! 💗

My appointment went well and I'm good for a whole year (it was a post cataract surgery check up).

That whole plant and dig up routine is why I've never planted those flowers. They are beautiful but that's a big commitment.

I popped in at Sam's Club after my appointment and they had clematis bulbs (3 for $15) so I picked those up. Hope they'll do well in the backyard against the fence.

Glad everything was good. 💗

Yeah, it's a lot of work. We've only done the Lily's for a couple of years and this was the first time for the Dahlias. I can do without the Lily's and if the bees didn't like the Dahlias so much, I could do without them too...lol They are pretty! I'm thinking it might be worth it to just buy new every year! 😁

I love Clematis. I had a really pretty one, but I never found the perfect spot for it. It finally faded away. I hope yours thrive for you.

Do bees like day Lillies? Those are super simple to grow and multiply every year (and no digging them up). Asian lilies also grow easy enough and are pretty too.

I have big hopes for the Clematis, never had one but they have been on my wish list forever. :fl

I'm not sure if they do or not. We have them too, I was asking myself that question a couple of days ago. I never thought to check them last year, don't ask me why not, I checked enduring else that was blooming...lol I'll make sure to check this year.

I always wanted one too. I do know that if flower blooms are too fluffy, the bees can't get into them very well. You'll have to share once they're established and growing beautifully, if you see any bees on them.

I'll let you know about the Clematis...I don't know about bees but butterflies are supposed to like them.

Hope your bees like the Lillies you have!
