the "not-so-bad" Blue Wheaten Ameraucana Hatch of 2010

I very much enjoy the "Mahonri as an expectant mother" posts. Somehow, it soothes me.

As many who followed my last hatch, they know that I am the king of worry.

I'll never forget at the beginning of day 20 I only had two pips out of 48 eggs. I was beginning to think that was all that would hatch. Before day 22 was over, I had 41 little chicks.

WHOA... chick overload.

I can only imagine how many I'll get this time. I'm guessing about 50. ( I have 75 in there right now but I know I'll have at least 5 or 6 quitters at lockdown and another 5 or 6 at hatch. WAIT! That would mean I'd have over 60!!! I may have to sell some!

We'll see.

I have 7 Blue Ameraucana's in bator going into lockdown today, from Gabbard Farms. Hatching vibes coming your way.

Those aren't Ameraucanas - Gabbard Farms sells Easter Eggers.

I have a bunch hatch since from Peachick as well. I have some from Whitmore farm as well. Peachicks did really well for me so far. I am trying to hurry and finish the coop for the bigger chicks to free up the brooder. They are all hanging in the bators for now. It is the morning of day 22.....

A lot of people say it is, but to me the first week or two is the slowest.
