Guys it is real bad with the OES - Oes took sick Monday near collapsed so rushed him to the Vet, been back to Vet everyday. The vet was treating him for the chest infection but now is pretty sure it started with the heart as it is not settling. The heart isn't working the best right now. He has had injections everyday and is now on heart tabs and more tabs today to try and regulate the heart. No nothing just rest for Oes boy.
Anyone know anything about hearts in the Oes breed of Dog???????
I am worried sick think the vet will "call it" if he can't do much else? Murph isn't doing too good right now you can see him struggling. This came on really sudden he was always a healthy chap who loved long walks etc.He is laying on the kitchen floor with Gizzy ( Miniture Schnouzer) who knows something is wrong! - Think I am gonna lose the Oes guys - Not 4 months since I lost my Mum with her heart -

Has anyone out their had an Oes with heart trouble, does anyone think he has a chance???

so sorry for your guy. Give him lots of love. I do know that several different heart problems are a risk in the breed. I would contact the breeder you got him from; hopefully she knows something that may be able to help him.

He is a rescue from the Oes rescue society - so no one will know much. Anyhow he is nearly 8yrs old now so I guess he was not born with this. Been doing a bit of reading and - DCM - The muscular walls of the heart become thinned and weakened - Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) Seems more likely the condition he has. I am so worried and upset.
We had not taken him out last week because his coat is full and it was so wet and cold here. It takes days and days to dry out if he gets totally soaked. I thought he might have gotten Pneumonia and was worried because of all the wet weather and I got him wet the week before. Now the nice coat I was working at doesn;t seem important. - anyway hes been laying on the darn legs so long this week he has terrible tats all the way up now like woolly tights! Drat lost another coat and will need to shave it down again. I really don;t know how they do it for crufts. I have had 3 Oes dogs and not once have I ever managed a full grown out coat like a dulux add! Ohh well I have a dog not an ornament! Still once would have been nice. He looks well in the pic on here though. Only a teddy coat length there.
I am rambling on. Really worried about the lad. I am soooo careful with him and now this. Now the Vet says NO walks at all. Poor critter stuck inside laying on the floor. Just a few days ago he was bounding down the beach like a mad thing??????

poor baby. I would still contact any local breeders/breed club and ask them for health advice. If they love their breed, they will be glad to offer some advice on your poor baby.

I know that is the club of America, but hopefully they will have some advice for you. It might take a while for them to answer an email but they might have some ideas for treatments that will help your boy.
