The old Amish farmer

So supposedly my father encountered an old Amish farmer who claimed he could tell pullets from roos by candling the egg. I was very skeptical but I told him I would ask the community. Anyone heard of this?

I agree. But part of me thought if he candled the egg early enough he might be able to tell based on the zygote. Idk...I insisted to my father that he was "full of it" and he said "idk what to tell you. Old amish farmer"

That is a skill I would certainly love to learn, if it was even possible. I think you'll find lots of folklore about sexing eggs....pointy eggs, circling magnets and I bet there is a load more out there, I've not even heard about. Science has been putting pin holes in eggs to find a way, but try that commercially with every egg you sell, not happening!
