The Old Folks Home

Morning old folks!

6 degrees here when I woke up this morning. Up to 22. This is after a Monday where temps were in the mid 60s. Mother Nature isn't paying that heating bill again, blast her!

So 3 cups of coffee with coco mix blended in makes Decaf so much easier to go down.

Will be working inside today. Saturday the bachelors get booted to the old coop so I can give their coop to birds that I want to breed for pure bred birds, namely the bantams and the Fayoumis. The incubator is calling and I must heed its siren call this year!
You do know you will need to wait about a month to start hatching once you separate them?

The temps won't go higher than 82 in the daytime, and we have the portable AC unit, so we will not overheat.
:th
We don't even have AC and get up into the 90's in mid summer. Open the windows at night to bring in cool air, close them in the morning. 82 doesn't seem all that hot.

Why do they have to replace all the ductwork? You probably mentioned it before but I've forgotten.

You're getting sleepy, very sleepy...
Dang, I just woke up an hour ago! Of course my narcolepsy often puts me in sleepy mode during the day anyway.

ETA: OOPS, didn't get this posted t 8 AM as planned!

bruce, The builder cut corners by installing undersized ductwork, and vents. In addition, they ran one main duct, from front to back, then tied all the rooms into the main duct. That means there is a big temperature difference between the front of the house, and the back, especially in the bedrooms.

Now, they will not only put in the correct size ductwork, and vents, but they will run two main ducts, one going to the back of the house, and the other going to the front. That will optimized efficiency, and keep the temperatures consistent throughout the house.

Sounds like the idiot who built our house. Except he put in all electric baseboard heat.

When we moved in (April of 94), I called the electric company to set up the account. I asked the person if she could tell me what the former owner had paid per month in the winter?

$400 for January. For a house that sat empty at 45 degrees.

We put in a propane furnace that August.
