The Old Folks Home

Not me. I like my socks loud and obnoxious. Last week my sewing teacher gave me a pair of socks with chicks on them. I wore them proudly to work. Think I'll wear them tomorrow, too.

Bama... that does look neat. I have a similar app on my phone... Relax and Sleep. You can add different noises and adjust each sound's volume until you reach what you like. I love this app, BF does not (I prefer to sleep with a noise capable of being able to drown out war). We compromise on the fan each night.
kareoke is huge in the philippines

we are "blessed" with an open videoke bar about 100 yards from our house. the AC goes on to shut it out.

white noise is a great sleep aid

Oh, no! Just on the news that Harrison Ford crashed his plane on a golf course due to engine failure, taken away in ambulance with moderate injuries.

Now I feel badly about the things I said.....

Betty White is my hero.  I hope to be as spunky as her up to the end. :yiipchick

Betty White is awesome!
My Grandmother worked every day up until the week she was put in the hospital and died. She had been getting treatments for lukeimia and never told anyone cause she didn't want anyone to worry. She was 89. She was retired as a custodian in the highschool and still worked partime until 80. After that she took care of old people, eldersitting Lol, some of them were younger than her! She broke her first bone a few years ago, her arm, fell on ice. The docter explained she was going to have to do physical therapy for a few months, she said she didn't have time for that she had to get back to work, he said you won't be working for awhile, she says just cut the darn thing off then and put a fake one on, I've been waiting my whole life for a cake job! Gramma was hardcore!

I believe if you think old you become old.

I remember a guy I worked with in college. I was turning 21 at the time and I thought this guy had to be in his 50's (which was old to a college student) and I found out that he was only 33

. He walked hunched over, always complaining about aches and pains --- I just could not believe he was that young by his behavior.

On the flip side, I work in a nursing home and some of the folks there are quite inspiring. We just admitted a lady this week who is 102. She just couldn't live by herself any more. Mind is still sharp and just a neat lady.

Old people are awesome, always a great story to tell. I plan on when I retire a hundred yrs. from now to volunteer at old folks homes just to hang out and lend a ear.
Some of the stories Gramma told! She said when she was young and working the fields on the farm if a woman was going to give birth they did it under a shade tree, bundled the baby up and went back to work, it was to far to go back to the house, and there wasn't any doctors anyway.

It is true. Old folks are awesome. Unfortunately in our society, beauty is valued, not so much wisdom.

We have a Dementia unit and I find it fascinating. The mind is an incredible thing and even those whose stories don't exactly make a straight line are extremely interesting.

Of course when we say Old Folks are awesome, I think we are preaching to the choir on this thread!!!!
