The Old Folks Home

Yes Bunny, I can fully relate - the cookie sheet goes sprong and the noise scares me half too death. I had one that NEVER did that. But as soon as I bought a bigger cookie sheet, the older one decided to seal it's fate by spronging.

Some day when I win the lottery I want to buy a really NICE set of cookware... that would include bake-ware as well. I'd like to get some of those really heavy cookie sheets and baking pans that commercial bakers use... they won't go "sprong". I'd love heavy duty stainless pans with copper bottoms. The only issue is I really don't like cooking with oils, and without it, IME, the food sticks to the SS pans too easily. If I could only get them with the non-stick stone finish inside... Not the typical/cheap/flakes off after 100 uses, black teflon crap.

OK, honestly... if I won the lottery, I'd sell this place for a song & dance/whatever I could get for it, as it sits, taking minor personal possessions (guns, ammo, fishing equipment, tools... that sort of thing) and then start over completely from scratch!

We all do our lottery dreaming. I would keep the old house but fix everything that needs it. My brother said that's stupid - I could just buy a new one. But, I have lived 46 years in this house and I love it. We(house & I) both are old, and need some help , too many memories here to leave it.

Winning a lottery doesn't necessarily mean a huge sum and whatever, Uncle Sam will take plenty off the top. In Illinois the state is so broke, they are behind in paying lotto winners - its a travesty (whatever that means- it sounds good) I would also cut down the Sycamore tree.

IF Won the lotto the house would get torn down and a NEW barrier free house would get built in its place. AND a barn And fence and cross fence for horse goats and sheep.

The house would be built around an atrium The flow would be Garage would be my access to the house. First thing I would pass would be pantry on one side and launtry room on the other. Then we would enter the kitchen. It would open out to the living room. One direction would be guest house connected by a walk way. Other direction would be a master bedroom The hall way would have pleanty of storage on either side of the hall. Two walls of storage.

there would be three bathrooms one in the laundry Kind of a guest potty. Bathoom for each bed room. Two beds threee baths...

Courtyard and atrium out from the center of the house. From my bedroom and from the center of the house and atrium I could see all the animals and my art studio would be near the barn.

edited to add: And I would buy the house next to me and the forty acres west of me. that would make it about sixty five acres.

Wouldn't think that if it were me that had the money though. Go figure?

Yep I could get the forty acres for about 80k and the property on the otheside is a sweet old man it might cost me more for that five acres.

I love love love where my house is... I just dont want neighbors.

The house i have been designing for some years now. It has morphed a little after I took an architecture class. and morphed again when I actually had land I could daydream about.

Actually just to be quick aobut it there is a modular that I like very much... or um er a modular builder

Look down at the Graham Residence. My favorite architecutre is mid century modern. This is what I could call just modern. or mid century with current materials.

Busy day here, planned. The rest of the firewood needs to be moved and restacked (I've got about 3/4 done the last few weeks picking at it for a few hours here and there), got to get the winter stuff on the bees, then head to town to pick up some things I need, bake some bread, vacuum and try to finish the applique work on one quilt and sew the binder down on another.

If I won the lottery I'd hire a person to mow the lawn and weed the gardens on a weekly basis (technically you can't buy time but this is the best way I know how to do that). I have some projects I'd like to get done on the house aesthetic-wise and I'd like a generator - one of the ones that turns on automatically within 5 seconds of a power outage. I have a rolling 5 year plan for the house - to keep things up mostly - seems like we're still always chasing something and don't have time or money to make serious improvements. Having the wood floors redone and the outside repainted are next, provided nothing breaks down (I fully expect the furnace to one of these years).

Wow Deb 40 acres for 80k? That is cheap compared to what we had to spend on land out here. I got a "discount" on our three acres because someone had bought it before us and didn't build so they were selling this "gem" for 118K. Now, I do like our property but the sticker shock of the price of land here in Utah was ticking me off. You would think our property was close to a lot of amenities. It isn't. We don't have sewer, no cable, no natural gas and a gas station with convenience store is the closest thing we have to groceries. Now we do go shopping in the next town over for food and such but it is about a 20 to 30 minute drive each way. Again not too bad but not worth the stupid amount of money they were asking. We are not even that close to Salt Lake City. That is about an hour away depending on which part of the city you are going to. If I ever win the lottery, I will move.

Lottery?
I saw a couple 40 acre lots for sale $25,000 each in Alaska, Buyer must verify it suits there needs.
I'd probably buy every breed of poultry I've ever wanted, Lol.

Beer Can I will never live in Alaska. Way too cold for me. I would visit because it is gorgeous country but never live there.
