The Old Folks Home

I am very high class. I've already done a load of laundry this week. Shan't talk on dishes, though.
God I hate dishes. No dishwasher here so there's always a sink full. I'll stay up late washing them and cleaning the kitchen just to wake up to another sink full. Makes me wanna cry. Four adults here and you'd think they'd know how to wash up after themselves but nooooo.

Know how you feel I do a sink load of dishes and it all grows back by morning. The kicker is, it's just me!! Where do the dirty dishes & silver ware come from?

but one look around the property and the junk piles just scream white trash.

Can't even manage to keep the area by the front door picked up....

Good thing though, because it keeps my property value low.

Ours doesn't look much better. We have a nice house, but piles of things, hoop houses, cold frames (in varying stages of disrepair), duck/goat/chicken houses, various fencing... all over the yard. And poop. ALLLLL over the yard.

I didn't have a dishwasher at the last house I was in and I worked crazy hours, I'd do 14 hours in a 2-on-2-off-3-on rotation. I'd get home to a sink full of dishes, be basically dead, sleep for a few hours, repeat the work day, come home and be comatose for 24 hours. Meanwhile the dishes multiplied. I recall being completely embarrassed one day the owners came to check on us. It was almost noon, I was still in my PJs and the sinks were full, the counters were full and my unemployed husband was worthless.
Needless to say, made sure this house had a dishwasher. That doesn't mean I load it all the time, but the dishes usually don't get to the point of no return like they used to.

I have a 3 strikes you're out rule... go through the dishwasher 3 times, if you're not clean, you go.

I've never thrown out a pan that didn't need it. I have had this problem, for years, of walking off when I have something on the stove. I usually remember when there is

smoke or a burning smell and sure enough water boiled out of a pan - scorched it and the bottom separated and warped etc. Had to throw out 3-4 pans - good ones, and I never learn.

I hate washing dishes! I washed dishes for Waffle House for 14+ years and all my own with 4 kids! I only wash them now and then and I don't care if they sit!
I bought a portable dish washer and it set on the dining room table for a year. Dh is not good at pluming so I moved it to the junk room.... Maybe one day I will get to use it.

The first job I ever had, as a kid, was washing dishes in one of my dad's restaurants. I got paid 23 cents an hour and thought I was getting rich. We now have a dishwasher that we use to store pots and pans. I don't mind doing dishes but they do have to sit and age a bit first.

When I was taking care of my mother during the last year or so of her life, the doctor got me aside and told me that I had to make things easier on myself and I needed to find some shortcuts. I did. styofoam plates became a big labor saver for me. As far as skillets are concerned. I went to solid cast iron. That way if they get gunk built up on them, I set them in the oven, top sided down on the rack and let the oven clean them when I put it on self clean. They come out looking like new and all I have to do is re-temper them and they are good to go.

To me washing dishes is like mowing the lawn. Its' the gift that keeps on giving.

I have to say dirty dishes in the sink drive me nuts sooooo they never stay there long. We do have a dishwasher in our house but since it is just the two of us, we hand wash dishes as we cook and as soon as we are done eating we hand wash the rest. The only time something will be in the sink overnight is if it needs to soak before scrubbing.

When I had a dishwasher before Dh and I got together I did load it daily. And it drives my dh crazy to see the dishes. So I guess I had hopes he would do something to get it hooked up
for me. But it did not work so I gave up. When my Dd #4 was here a couple weeks ago I asked her if she wanted to buy it, and my dh had a fit! He said nooooo I'm gonna hook it up! lol
Right?

It will likely still be in the back room when we both are gone.
