The Old Folks Home

These are two of my Spanish breeds. The pullets are Partridge Penedesneca and the cockerels are Pita Pintas.

The Penes are on their last molt. The Pita Pintas will molt out with more black in a month or so and are a couple of months younger. Quite large already too.

Ron your birds are so pretty!

Ron, I bought a generic stone for half the price, works just as well, I think the brand was Cielo or something. One thing I do recommend though, is to find something similar to Webers own metal pizza shovel. Getting the pizza on the stone can be a bit tricky otherwise. If you get the stone at some point, ask me for some pointers about how to arrange the coal.

Thanks for the pointers.

I have both a big metal spatula and a wooden pizza peel. I love them! I used the metal one to get a stuck 9x13 pie crust off of the table and into the baking dish last night.

I will want pointers on arranging the coals.

We had a couple of weeks of colder weather, but it has warmed up a bit again. The dandelions seem to think it's spring again, because loads of their leaves have turned up in our lawn again. I did some weeding there today, and I have to say that I really like this weeding tool we bought this summer: Super easy to use, you just push it down with your foot, tilt it to the size, lift it up and drop the weed by pushing the orange lever. You get the whole root with it, and it leaves most of the soil intact, just a little hole left where the weed used to live.
Hah! I scoff at your dandelions!!! I spent half of the past week reading up on invasive and noxious weeds. And then finding them in my yard. So far the worst is the Himalayan blackberry. But a few are potentially toxic so out they go. But why do people plant them in yards? Foxglove? Who needs Foxglove? The dandelions aren't worth worrying about yet ;) But I do have one of those tools currently holding a door open. Pristine condition even.
