Felix, I tried the apple thing to ripen bananas. The poster said it would ripen them in 24 hrs. = they lied. I had the apple in with them 3 days - no change. I got impatient and ate the apple.

I suppose if I hit them with a mallet they would get all bruised and icky looking like over ripe bananas. But, doubt that would cause them to be sweeter.

Never heard that one before but I have heard banana peels ripen tomatoes.

You guys, I caved and bought bantams today. I know, I know. 6 of the cutest, tiny fuzzbuts AND they are in my house AGAIN! I also set 3 OE and 3 BCM eggs under a broody this morning.

I'm all in.
I really have a sickness. Help me. When DH finds out, I'm so busted. I cleaned out the coop today and my guard was down when I went in for supplies.

I am hoping for a broody as my borrowed incubators have returned to their rightful owner. Hubby made a comment the other day about a girl going broody, I think I can convince him to let her hatch if she goes full on.

Rusty gate is the best description of their regular voices. But as adults they are very loud and call alarm when ever the see something new....

guineas have either 2 or three sounds

the guard dog cacophany and the basic single eek sounds are shared by males and female but the "but crack" sound is just female.

To sex them you seperate a bird from the flock and listen for the sound of butt crack (the guinea noise - not dude's)

Good morning, Old Folks! I have moved 24 eggs into the hatcher and 8 of that batch under a broody Ameraucana hen. She has been keeping three golf balls warm for a couple of weeks and will be rewarded with chicks today or tomorrow. I also set two trays on Friday night and I'm thinking to joining the Easter hatch........hmmmm off to check the set dates for that HAL.

The weather looked liked you were going to be trapped inside for a day or so. You can bake and watch the suet feeder disappear...
