The Old Folks Home

Well, I successfully used a pressure cooker for the first time today..... just cooking chicken bones, but it's progress. If you pressure cook chicken bones you can get them soft enough to crumble in your hand. I'm trying to make ground cat food for a little bit rather than giving them big chunks. Chicken bone shards all over the floor and couch after the cats eat is getting old...

Pressure cook some garbanzo beans and make hummis--45 minutes under pressure is all it takes.

Never tried pressure cooking them, but have used canned ones for hummis,
Any tips besides peeling on how to make them more like the store bought creamy hummis?
I've even tied running them run through our electric meat grinder with the fine plate. Maybe I should try running them through our applesauce food mill thingy?

20 minutes is all it takes to get a tough old bird to fall apart tender in a pressure cooker, love ours and the slow cooker crock pot does a great job also.
When I pressure cook I remove bird, take all the meat off and set aside, re-pressure cook carcass with the broth, strain and cool, fat goes to top and hardens, take off fat, best broth ever, re-add the meat, diced potatoes carrots onions little celery, or egg noodles, or and dumplings, dang best chicken soup ever! Makes good base for chicken-n-biscuits also.

You just pressure cook them and smash them with a fork. They come out creamy and better than store hummis.
