Good morning Old Folks. Yesterday I was busy as can be. good day to take a break.

Um, has anyone here had a Marans hen go broody before? Seems like Mara is glued to the nesting box. She came out for a quick run around to grab food and some scratch grains while the other hens were laying, then right back in the nesting box she went.

Any hen can go broody . Key is you cannot make a hen do it.

G'Day folks.

I popped in earlier to crow about my new chicks (see what I did there?).

Now I'm going to brag about the nap I just took. You know those naps that you wake up from that leave you so weak you can't even make a fist? Yeah. One of those.

I wish everyone a good nap today if they want one.

Welcome to the home @Hermits Garden! Glad you pulled up a rocker and joined us.

I have two broodies right now. Gave one 5 bantam eggs to sit on and the other 6 bantam eggs and one of my 'Mouser' hen's eggs. Minnie Mouser lives to kill mice and I've been trying for three years to catch her on a nest so I could brood one of her eggs either under a hen or in my incubator. Caught her two days ago and immediately stuffed the egg under my first broodie.

Minnie was following me around hoping I'd come up with something great to eat so I pointed a finger at her and said, it had better not be another Yard Rooster!

All the chicks are now officially evicted to their brooder pen in the coop.

They're all settled in, doing their tiny chicken things now. I'll be a Nervous Nelly this first night with them outside, but they all seem well adapted to the MHP and have put themselves to bed every night since I got them.

Now that the studio is clean and brooder free, I can get back to work!
