The one really flying and roosting!

Tonight there was an epic fail of my automatic coop door (really happy with it so far, so I need to check what happen to the timer...).
When I came home it was dark and when checking on my little flock, I found them outside all cuddled up at the closed entrance of the coop. Poor them.
Manage to moved them inside on the roost bar but ... wait there are only 5 of them. One pullet is missing...
Looked around with my torch and finally I spotted her roosting on the persimmon tree. But I was amazed she was almost 2 and a half meter high!!!! And considering where the branches are, she had to fly up there from the ground.
That was incredible if someone were telling me that I would not believe it.

Got a long tick stick and managed to get her to move on it and got her down and safely into the coop.

Wow I'm impressed!
Shame it was dark otherwise it qould have made a hell of a picture!

SUPER CHICKEN Seriously, glad it's safe. I've been thinking of the automatica door bc I HATE winter (lol). But, have been nervous because it looks like a guillotine!

The one I got is safe. It closes V slowly and if detect anything it will stop and open up.
Tomorrow I'll be at home for when it gets dark ans I can check if the door closes earlier or they stayed out too long and I need to reset the timer. Here days are getting longer

A close friend has one that malfunctioned, upon inspection he found that the "eye" was blocked with chicken . Just an idea to check. He had to move something (admit to tuning out when mechanical talk is going on) and all has been working properly since then.

Found out what happened to my automatic door. By mistake I set 2 closing time and one was too early.

So all good and sorted and the doir is working well

I have a pair of GEM hens, they took flight and were easily making 20 feet up. Girls your scaring me,,,,
