I was just reading a post that linked to a chicken breed abbreviation list. But what I have trouble figuring out are the non-chicken abbreviations. I thought I had DH figured out as "dear hubby?" Not even sure on that, but then there are others that totally have me clueless, they start of simple, DD, etc. but then turn into 3 letter DDL, etc. What are all these? And if it is "dear" that's the prefix, why? Why am I referring to my husband's sister in law twice removed as "dear" anything? I'm so confused...

i've always wondered the same thing. what does the d mean??? i think DDL is daughter in law.. but i have no clue what the d means.. glad you asked cuz i'm curious too

I always thought it was dedicated? It can be anything I thing..

DD - Dedicated Daughter
DS - Dedicated son
DH - Dedicated Husband
DW - Dedicated Wife

Those are what I think of...

The D stands for dear most of the time. It can stand for other d words depending on what is going on at that time. DD - dear duaghter
DS - dear son
So on and so on

D is Dear or Dumb?? Wow, that can really change the context of a sentence. "Look at the coop my DH built". Is that to say the coop came out lousy and he's an idiot? Or does she mean the coop is wonderful and he's such a dear to build it.

I don't know..... this is still confusing to me, lol. I think some people use abbreviations a little too much. I mean, how much longer does it take to type "ear" onto a "D"? And who really talks like that anyway? "My DEAR husband...."
