I can't be the only one on here who illegally owns chickens due to city ordinance. I think it's kinda funny really. I get an image in my head of SWAT kicking in my door with guns drawn yelling "Where's the birds, give me the ******* birds now!!!" I know it's a bit of an egg-xageration but still, we're talking about outlaw birds here. So who else is below the radar? I'm just curious so let me know. I'll get pics of the new coop tomorrow and post. Ya'll do the same.

I am! I live in the county, so I can have birds, I'm unsure of the # though. In the city here they can have 6 hens. I, by law should have obtained a permit, and agreed to allow them to inspect my coop... I figure its my land.... and its none of their business!

I can only own indoor chickens, no coop. My chickens are out side when I'm not home and out when I am. I have a crate for my bantoms but I haven't figured out what to do with my 6 girls, I was thinking of building them a room in my storage area in the basement just in case and building a coop that doesn't look like a coop, really stealth and a dog run as we have dogs.

I can have 13 sexually mature hens, but no roosters. The ordinance assigns "Animal Density Points" to "livestock" - which includes poultry. Chickens are a point apiece, and property of an acre in size allows for 25 ADP. My landlady keeps 3 sheep on the same property, and they count for 4 APD apiece. Hence the allowance for 13 chickens for me.

Now, the ordinance also states: "Immature offspring which have not yet reached sexual maturity" don't count towards one's ADP allotment. I'm trying to figger out how one could get chicken "offspring" without roosters. I guess, the same way I did: from a feed store. The chicks are SOMEBODY'S "offspring."

Anyway, I have 9 adult chickens, six "immature" chicks, and two ducks. So, as soon as the chicks reach sexual maturity, I'll be over the limit by four fowl.

I'm hoping that the Cayuga ducks, being all black, would be Ninja Stealth ducks and nobody could see them.

And the two bantam cochins are far too small to be noticed. Yah, that's the ticket!

Yep add me to the list. City says I can have 3, I have 4 and adding 4 more. I could get a permit for more, but unless a neighbor complains Im just not going to worry about it, they'd have to peak over my hedge to know whats going on in my backyard. I'm also thinking of having some serama in my garage, no one but me will knows about those, plus since they are so small cant really count them
