my silkies turned 6 weeks old today and what to u know... they r peck in a mean way at eachother sometimes.
this book that my dad bought me (WOW [IMG] [IMG] ) says they do this at 6 weeks of age and to separate the cocks from the pullets.
i have silkie and how do u tell them apart? cocks or pullets? [IMG]

I see little reason to separate them at 6 weeks of age. If they have plenty of room to exercise and run around, they will be fine. I suspect that they are "play fighting" at this stage, and will not hurt one another. After the roosters begin to crow, you may (note: MAY) have problems with them doing damage to each other.

I've never owned a silky, but from what I can gather from others here, they seem to be quite laid back, compared to many other breeds.
