The Pecking Order!

I wouldn't call 5x5 a 'large' coop.
Could be point of lay crabbiness, pecking order changes as birds come into lay.
I had GLW in the past, they were both mean, one was really aggressive.
Have SLW now, just 8 weeks, both pretty mellow and calm.

My girls
That is just about the size of my coop, have a 4x12 ft run, although they are out in a larger yard area during the day. I have six chix. Now about 16 months old. Never any harassment of each other...do you let them out during the day from the run/coop?

Have to say that is a nice size run you have...

Are they laying yet? Are they still on chick starter? Is there enough food? How do they handle eating, what kind of feeder do you have? The fact that they have been mean to each other in the past, I am thinking maybe protein too!

They may be just at point of lay...how are they doing with nest boxes?
i try to let them out during the day. Two are laying (my Dottes are still trying) They are all eating organic layer feed. Currently, they are all eating out of a big dish, but we plan to install a pvc pipe feeding system soon. I just plan to keep an eye on them to make sure that minimal aggression happens.

Yah. I didn't really mean large coop, just large run. Luckily, my Dottes aren't mean to humans! Thanks you guys!

Considr tossing feed on ground in a large area so they aren't competing...just a thought...
Dottes still "trying"....:lau...must be Point Of Lay Jealousy!!!!!!!!!

I do organic layer feed as well, and i ferment it! Wonderful stuff!
