The Pecking War -- Help!?

So my flock of six are confined on weekdays from dawn until 5:30 in their 16 x 4 run. It SHOULD be plenty of room, but most of the chickens have been ruthlessly attacking each others combs. I think they may be bored, even though they are always kicking the bedding out of the coop and into the run to dig around in, AND I have been sprinkling the food all around the joint.

Do they get jealous? Because when I pet/hold one, when I put her down, the others peck her and then wait for me to pick HER up.

I have a similar situation, ie 5 hens, but no pecking going on. Mine aren't quite at POL. Could yours be missing something in the feed? I'm interested to hear what people think as we have a long winter coming up.
