So we have a large Angora male, and today was the day to shave/trim him down. When we first got him, he had been matted pretty badly, and in need of a good grooming. Since today we had a pretty cool afternoon, my husband and I tag teamed and got the clippers and the scissors to him.

Needless to say, he was looking pitiful the whole time. And now he looks so teeny tiny compared to before! The good part is that this hair will not go to waste- it's being saved for trapping season as a visual stimulate for the predators, to help entice them to the traps.

Anyone here ever had to give a rabbit a groom down? Tell me about it!

With all that fluff, they look so big, but an English Angora is only supposed to weigh about 6 lbs. Not a whole lot of rabbit under all that hair!

I had an English Angora once, but I finally sold her because I couldn't keep up with the coat - I had to keep clipping her. When I told an Angora breeder about my problems with her, he said, "if I only had one Angora, I'd have a blower. Blow them down once a week or so, and you're good!" Oh, well, live and learn.
