It’s by no means perfect, but I am pretty proud of myself for this since I’ve never built a coop before. Mistakes made, lessons learned, and some sweat and blood went into it.

It is a 10’ X 20’ run and the coop is a 4’X 8’ with the front wall about 4’ and the back is roughly 2’. I don’t have plans drawn up I see it in my head and start measuring and writing numbers down in a notebook with no reference  It’s a long time bad habit of mine.

We don’t plan on keeping them pent up all the time. We do free range them which is why everything is not as big as it should be. We do plan on keeping them pent-up for a few days so they learn this is where home is this is their new place to live.

Nice, lots of work there.
Just ducks....how many?

I see no ventilation in the enclosed coop?

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

There’s 4 Muscovy ducks and 8 chickens, the ducks have their own separate area for sleeping until I can build something else for them that attaches to the run. They are in this run when I took the pictures because we had the lawn treated.

The ventilation is in the soffits and the back has a removable 4’X1’ panel for additional ventilation and I’ll be adding a smaller one in the front wall for the summers.

I live in the Northeast so summers don’t get too hot and springs are pretty wet and windy. The fall can get chilly but the winters do get down to freezing temperatures frequently.

Thank you for showing me where to add it
