The prodigal chicken?

We free ranged our chickens last year and lost a few tO predators. In October my barred rock didn't come back at night. We figured we had lost her to. (Very sad she was my favorite). Recently we started finding eggs in a couple spots out in the yard. We've also been finding barred feathers out around the yard and chicken coop. Is it possible she left home for the winter and has come back? Is this weird chicken behavior? Anyone else have this happen

that can happen possibly the chicken has gone to your neighbours garden if there was something she liked there e.g. a fruit tree other hens anything like that my chickens have run away before then come back later it could also been that she laid a cluster and went broody maybe
