    My first egg!

My question: I haven't had any more eggs since this one which was laid two days ago. I know that my chickens are young and I'll probably have to wait for more out of the other three. But I'm wondering how come the one who laid the egg hasn't laid any more...?

I think it's possible that the chickens are being upset by my neighbors generator which is very loud and in an outbuilding that is close to my chicken coop. It turns on automatically twice in a 24 hr period, each time for about a minute (once at day and once at night).

The coop is in a location where I can easily keep an eye on it being that there are very large dogs in the neighborhood, but it is close to the generator.

Will my chickens get used to the noise?

I've only had chickens for 5 days. I know they're doing a lot of adjusting right now, and frankly, so am I.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Congrats on your first egg I know how eggciting it is!! With my first egg I had to wait 4 days before I got the second so I wouldn't worry. As to the generator I'm sure your chickens will get used it when I first put my birds outside everything was so scary but given a few days nothing bothered them. Even the lawn mower right up against the run!! Also try not to worry to much about things and enjoy your chicken. What do you have by the way? Wishing you the very best of luck with your chickens. :thumbsup

@Yorkshire coop ok thanks so much! This info alleviates my worries tremendously! I believe I have a Plymouth Rock, an Ameraucana and two Easter Eggers. But it's entirely possible that I have three Easter Eggers.

Either way I love them all! Thanks again, and God bless you!
