The purpose of a water wiggler

A water wiggler has a similar density to an egg, and a convienient hole up the middle where you can put a temperature probe.

Set it inside the incubator, level with the eggs, and the probe will reach a temperature very close to the temp inside an incubating egg. For chickens this will ideally be 95.5F

Additionally, the thermal mass of the wiggler is such that it's internal temp. will not vary in the way the air temperature in the incubator varies due to the heater cycling on and off.

This makes it easy to adjust your incubator. Just make small adjustments, wait an hour or so, and watch the wiggler temp.
