The Quotidian Chicken

A dun Aloha pullet, the dun gene is fascinating and beautiful to me, and it's relatively uncommon, so I'm trying to keep it in my flock.

In more unfortunate news, my head rooster has somehow injured his eye this morning. The eye seems functional but is mostly shut, teary and has some pus. Pretty sure it's an injury not illness, there's a little blood and he may have torn his eyelid or adjacent. I'm treating accordingly, but only time will tell if he recovers without significant scarring or an infection. He is an amazing bird, and I'm hoping he has a quick recovery.

Also, my head rooster is doing well! His eye looks much better today, it's a clear injury (seems to have ripped the nictating membrane, likely peck injury but unknown cause) and it's minor, so it looks a lot better today since yesterday it was a brand new injury.
