The reason for no flip flops around the turkeys!

As soon as I am out the door all my "babies" come running. I am mom since they imprinted on me after they arrived from the hatchery. They are worse than dogs following me around the yard/garden. I will not wear painted toe nails or open shoes around them!!

They are Broad breasted whites (for the freezer) and my bourbon reds.

We drink coffee with the birds every morning. We have to give THEM the flip flops off our feet so they'll leave our toes alone. I don't know WHY they love pecking at flip flops so much, but they do. Those and lightweight gardening gloves...

I always wear full shoes around poultry/livestock. Prevents me from having to wash my feet before I get into bed. And the fact that it keeps them from getting pecked at is another positive.
