The recent horror post got me thinking about roosters...

Most cities do not allow roosters because of the noise. I wonder if it is possible to "mute" a rooster, similar to what they can do with some dogs. I would think that this would give urbanites the best of both worlds...quiet and flock protection.

I am no expert but i think the flock protection comes from the rooster crowing and alerting the flock of danger silent roos do not crow thus do not alert the flock
 
No "good" vet will do it...
You're more likely to loose your bird on the table...
I should know because I researched everything when I was trying to keep Jerry...and Slifer.
I did manage to muzzle Slifer...
 
From everything I have read on BYC over the years surgery would be veeery expensive and you'd probably loose your roo. It's not a good idea.

Are you allowed to have a roo? if you are maybe you can confine him at night until 7am then let him out.
Some neighbours actually get used to the noise and end up enjoying it as it sounds "country"!
