About rooster (roosters personality, why you need to rehome this rooster, etc.):

Lord Grantham is a very friendly fellow! He's not aggressive at all, just very curious and cheerful. He's starting to crow every morning. Apart from that, though, he's mostly quiet. He likes to follow us around the yard, especially when my husband is doing gardening. He'll sit and wait for him to turn up worms. He's kind to the hens, but will break up fights when needed. He's alert to hawks and other dangers and always sounds the alarm.

We are first-time chicken owners, and we're apprehensive about dealing with a rooster. That's why we bought female chicks--at least we thought we did! This boy's a big sweetie. We just aren't ready to figure out how to handle a rooster right now (isolation pens, behavior problems, etc.).

Any takers? @Flockincrazy we're really close to you. Would you be able to help us out?

Oh, my gosh! He's so beautiful! Thank you so much for keeping us updated. We all miss him over here, but it would never have worked out. Especially since the hoop-house run we made for our 4 girls collapsed in a huge snow over Thanksgiving weekend! Our poor ladies ended up stuck in their Eglu run all winter, with daily free-ranging trips to keep them exercised. If that huge fellow had stayed around we would have had serious overcrowding under those circumstances, so it worked out for the best.

Now that the weather's nice we're working on a larger run and coop for everyone, and are adding a few more chicks at the end of May. But you helped us get through our first year of chicken keeping by taking our rooster, and we're really grateful to you!

We are sad to rehome him. He needs his own flock.

Roosters name: not named (was going to be Irene, after my grandmother, but....)

Weight: not much
Age: about three weeks

About rooster (roosters personality, why you need to rehome this rooster, etc.): We got this chick along with three other pullets. Looks like this is a roo. Where we live we can't have roosters, so he needs a new home. So far he is quite friendly--moreso than the three little pullets! He's a very handsome little white guy at the moment.

Name: Adam (He is my avatar)
Black Ameraucana-- show lines, looks teal with a tiny bit of purple in sun. Spilt for lavender, has 2 blue egg genes. Will father olive eggers (has beautifu boofy babies.)
Age: 11 months
He is the sweetest possible rooster, but he is not responding anymore to the no-crow collar, and the township says he must go. He is an ideal flockmaster, always calling the ladies over for a snack

I am also giving away one of his babies: a little cockerel, 7 weeks, Ameraucana X Copper Marans.

Anyone in NoFLo or SoGa getting rid of a silver laced/buff cochin roo or a buff/gold laced polish, I will come to get him. I'm also open to Silver/Gold Phoenix roos. It's funny because I ordered straight runs hoping to have a roo in each pen to protect them and got nothing but hens... mostly lucky, but still, I have lonely gals. lol
